Ordovician (ProcJam 2015)
Journey back to seas that teemed with forms of life that haven’t been seen in four hundred million years.
This is, of course another procedural generation project from Tom Betts (In Ruins; Sir, You Are Being Hunted), created for Procjam 2015.
The Ordovician is a great inspiration for procedural generation. There are many unknowns, leaving space to invent new creatures, but we have tantalizing glimpses of the alien appearances of conodonts, graptolites, and other now-extinct creatures that once populated our oceans. Thus the generated creatures can gain their order from primeval models, while embracing the chaotic possibilities of long-forgotten lifeforms.
